So many wedding venues don't seem to understand what accessibility really means It doesn't mean people can come in via the kitchen, it doesn't mean that we'll find some way around your gravel paths, and it doesn't mean that we'll find an alternative to your on-site accommodation

They all seem to be treating it as if it's for elderly family members or people who aren't "important" to the wedding. Except there are plenty of brides and grooms (and whatever the gender neutal version of this is, I have no idea) out there who need this access.

And the glorious thing about making stuff accessible? It's not just for those with access needs, it works for everyone. I can walk up a ramp, or use a flat-level doorway (I'd probably be better at using a flat-level doorway, I'm clumsy), or use a wetroom...

_QueenOfNaps_ and I have only been engaged a week and a half, but we're already frustrated with the process. It's like walking through treacle. We keep finding venues we like the look of, and then finding out that something isn't accessible.

There was one we loved, and at first we were told that it was accessible, but then found out that Donna would have to come in through the kitchen. Unacceptable.

An accessible world works for everyone, it should be the default rather than trying to come up with ways for those with access needs to adapt to a hostile environment
