jamiemunro anatomic venkat_s I'm not saying it can't be done, but I've seen a lot of talks (easily over 100) over the past couple of years (both at meetups and conferences) and I'd only say that 3 of those kept me paying attention.

jamiemunro anatomic venkat_s 1 was a guy who was a trainer and teacher, so he could smash things out while talking and explaining what he was doing, without making errors.

jamiemunro anatomic venkat_s Another was a thewizardlucas who had written himself an actual paper script of what he had to do and had practiced every free moment he could get before his talk. I'm pretty sure he could still do it from memory even though it was last year.

jamiemunro anatomic venkat_s thewizardlucas The last one was stefanjudis doing a lightning talk yesterday. He had no slides, but shortcuts in VSCode for everything, made the smallest changes necessary to get the point across while talking and had it actually executing inline in the editor (I think using quokka.js?)

jamiemunro anatomic So yeah, it can be done well, but it requires some real thought and effort. People usually see it as an easy out instead of realising that though.
