Whenever a speaker drops out of their slides to a code editor with an actual app, I feel its way too easy to lose the audience. There's a fuck load of stuff on-screen that the audience doesn't need to care about, but they don't know that. As a speaker, you've thrown it at them.

Code snippets in your slides work way better. You can literally show only the context you need. You can show screenshots/videos/GIFs of the code doing what it's supposed to be doing. It's also really easy to trip up when tweaking code on stage.
