      michaelgat vmbrasseur If you're selling tickets or have sponsors, it's unreasonable to expect a speaker to pay to get to the conference and stay there, even if it's a community conference.

    michaelgat vmbrasseur The majority of my speaking experience has been at community organised events. Only one of those didn't pay for travel and accommodation, but my employer could cover me for that.
